Bianca Vaida

Bianca Vaida is 22 years old and she is an extremely sociable person, who has been volunteering for the past 10 years. She can’t say exactly why she started so early, because at that age she didn’t even necessarily understand what volunteering means; all she knows is that she did things for people solely out of the desire to help them, without expecting anything in return.

She is currently part of a student organization in Timișoara, the AC League. It is here, she says, that she managed to develop considerably, both personally and professionally, because she found people who work with the same passion as her in the completion of projects and in everything that volunteering means. She has the greatest satisfaction when, after hours spent in meetings, after many quarrels and discussions, after all the work done in order to carry out the projects, she sees that the people she worked in aid of are satisfied and appreciate their work.

The phrase “today’s youth” is used, says Bianca, both in relation with remarkable things and with less remarkable ones. It is obvious to her that people are imperfect, have different interests and interpret things in their own ways. But she was lucky to be one of those young people who want to bring about change in the community and who are aware that it is not enough to complain about the things that bother them but, on the contrary, they have to work to materialize the ideals they believe in.

Bianca is the kind of person who doesn’t know how to say no, which can be just as well an advantage or a disadvantage because, says she, knowing our limits, we must always realize when we need a break. Therefore, when traveling with friends, reading, or spending time with family, she tries to avoid using the phone; otherwise, she would always be connected to problems that need to be solved.
For her, the best thing about volunteering is that, theoretically, you work 24/7. You don’t have a schedule, there is no “I’m done today, I’ll close everything and come back tomorrow.” You are free to work as much as you want and when you want, but, because you always like what you do, you end up working harder than at a normal job.
She organized events, helped the elderly or children in orphanages and had many other activities, about which the most important thing she wants to mention is that she always did them on her own initiative, motivated by the possibility of making some people happy. And, being a very energetic and determined person, she is convinced that in the future, whenever she will have the opportunity to do so, she will help anyone who will need it.

Currently, she is a student at the Faculty of Law in Timișoara and, in connection with this, she tells us that one of her biggest desires is to organize legal information courses, especially for students, because she is convinced that a minimum of legal knowledge is indispensable for everyone’s development.
